Amazing always. We know most people come here for special occasions, but being together as a family is special to us.
The cooks are funny and the food is on point. It's a bit on the pricier side but we always leave laughing, full and with find memories. -

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday, we had a party of about a dozen people, so we planned ahead, made a reservation. The show was great, friendly chef. The food however was below par, over cooked and rubbery. Cocktails needed to be sent back twice since they didn't right.
Plenty of parking available. -

It certainly feels like teppan style dining isn't quite as in vogue as it was in the early 2000s, but it's fun to come back to every now and then. Unfortunately, it seems like the experience has been scaled back over time, while prices have continued to rise.
I ordered the hibachi chicken at this Musashi, and ended up having a huge meal as my friends kept giving me their unwanted soups and salads. 2 soups and 3 salads later, I was decently full before the cooking had even begun. But coming in hungry, the miso soup and salad with the classic ginger-y Japanese steakhouse dressing hit the spot.
The meal itself was solid, with the ginger dipping sauce serving as a nice complement to the meat and veggies (I didn't like the mustard one). They seem to have eliminated bean sprouts from the menu, which is a bit of a shame, but the mushrooms, zucchini, and onions were all welcome components.
The show itself was one of the less elaborate teppan shows I've seen - no real performance with the shrimp tails like I remember, and the famous onion volcano was only 3 rings high. It may seem a bit nit picky to bring these things up, but in the case of teppan where the entertainment is part of what you're paying for, it's disappointing to see some of the fun fade from it.
Our server also seemed to be pretty stressed out - admittedly the people next to us were a bit difficult and impatient, but she also didn't seem to be handling it in a very pleasant way. My rice was forgotten and I had to ask several times to get some. I felt bad for her but it wasn't a great part of the experience either.
The restaurant itself was actually very beautifully laid out and felt more upscale than the other locations, and my friends and I still did have a good time here. I just feel like they've lost a bit of the enthusiasm that used to make these meals special. -

Extremely disappointed with the service. Waitress did not get our order right and the cook did not make an entertaining show at all, he just cooked it. We have been to Benihana's and Teppan in Oxnard multiple times and was in Simi Valley that day so we decided to try it vs making drive to Oxnard. We were there for my sons 8th birthday and it was terrible. We will not be giving them business again and not recommending them. I will make sure to tell others to avoid. We made sure to voice our dislike along with another couple we didn't know at the table but it didn't make any difference.
